Dan Childs is Managing Editor of the ABC News Medical Unit in New York City. In nearly 15 years as a medical journalist, Childs has produced medical news for various print, broadcast, and Internet venues and has written hundreds of news articles of health, medicine, and lifestyle for various news outlets. In his former role as Health Editor of ABCNews.com, he headed the ABC News OnCall+ project, designed to help audiences get answers to their questions on specific issues in health and medicine from some of the world’s leading medical experts.
Childs completed the UNC master’s program in medical journalism in 2002 – a program for which he currently serves as an advisory board member. In 1999 he received a B.S. in biology with a minor in journalism from Wake Forest University.
