Barbara F. Okun, PhD, is a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School and has maintained a clinical psychotherapy/family therapy practice with diverse populations for over thirty years. She is also a counseling psychology professor at Northeastern University. Dr. Okun is the author of several highly successful books, including Saying Goodbye: A Guide to Coping with a Loved One’s Terminal Illness, and she has written numerous professional chapters and articles as well as serving as a reviewer for several publishing companies. She served as Editor of the Massachusetts Psychology Association Quarterly Journal and the Sage Series on Women’s Health as well as on several journal boards. She also authored a column for The Family Psychologist, the newsletter of the American Psychological Association’s Family Psychology division. Dr. Okun trains mental health workers in Central and South America.
